  1. World Organ Donation Day 2023 is annually observed on 13 August across the globe to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, to encourage people to become organ donors and to make people aware of the misconceptions about organ donation. The theme for World Organ Donation Day 2023 is “Step up to volunteer; need more organ donors to fill the lacunae”.
  2. Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day on 14 August of every year.
  3. Subhash Runwal, Chairman of Runwal, a leading real estate developer with a legacy of over four decades, has been recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the first-ever RICS South Asia Awards.
  4. Central Railway’s New Amravati station has engraved its place in history as the first station in Bhusaval Division and the third station within the Central Railway to be designated a ‘Pink Station’, a station that is wholly managed by women staff.
  5. In a significant step towards harnessing renewable energy and reducing power deficits, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma launched the Chief Minister’s Solar Mission, a pioneering initiative aimed at ushering in a new era of green progress for the north eastern hill state.

  10. Tata Sons, the parent company of Air India, has introduced a new appearance and brand identity for the airline which includes a new logo and design known as ‘The Vista’, replacing the well-known mascot ‘Maharaja’.  
  11. The Subroto Mukherjee Sports Education Society (SMSES) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with All India Football Federation to promote football at grassroot level.
  12. IndusInd Bank and Tiger Fintech, a company of the Bajaj Capital Group, have partnered to launch the IndusInd Bank Tiger Credit Card.
  13. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and National Standards Body of India, signed Memorandum of Understandings with 35 prestigious institutions across the country.
  14. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research Cancer Registry data, Uttar Pradesh, registered the highest count of cancer cases in India.  
  15. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah launched the digital portal of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) office in Pune, Maharashtra.
  16. Former President of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) and Padma Shri Awardee Professor Manchanahalli Rangaswamy Satyanarayana Rao, popularly known as MRS Rao passed away on 13 August 2023, in Bengaluru at the age of 75.
